If you can find “raw green tripe” that’s a great all round balanced food and no bones. Feed my dog a lot of it. Good luck.
I agree! I will go to our local deli today and see what they offer. Raw is the way to go. I will just have to blend it up for my old girl! Thank You so much. Glad to see someone in the world like you! At least both agree that commercial dog food is GARBAGE! I am just working on getting a recipe down for my girls thats well balanced!
so try feeding rubbery bones like lamb breast or pork or chicken necks, turkey necks etc.
The grinding up of bones will replace the eggshells for calcium requirements.
Your on the right track but there’s one fundamental difference you must understand. The food MUST be left in it’s raw state to have good nutritional qualities. Cooking food de-natures it or kills off the live enzymes which work wonders for dogs.
The blender is fine if the food is raw, or use a home grinder/mincer and throw in the bones to make mince.
Try and get the teeth cleaned up so your dogs don’t suffer periodontal problems. The bones as you know help to clean teeth…TBC-
I can’t get my dogs to eat bones. Can I save a turkey carcass and put it in the pressure cooker until they are mush then feed it to them? I can put them in a blender before I give it to them? Right now I grind up egg shells to a powder and add it to there home cooked food. I only cook it because my dogs teeth aren’t great now from not starting on this raw meat at a younger age. Now sadly they aren’t use too it. So I do my best to cook the right things and cook them only slightly.
Hey thanks, my greatest reward is another dogs life changed for the better so thankyou for commenting.
Still the Best Dog Food in the World! No one comes close! thanx Dan Scott!! You changed the lives of my dogs!

God, evolution… however we like to frame things the dog turned out to be a carnivore and bones are part of their biological makeup.
very good information until you mention evolution which has been proven to be totally false, god created all things fact xx
Yes they are poison aswell i worked at pet carousel n they cook spoiled bones n meats. The baskets n racks they cook on r kept out side where bugs n magots infest them. Pest control is constantly sraying out there i was even overcome by poison one time. Very very bad stuff
Mixing up commercial dog food with raw just makes things worse generally. Why not just go full raw? You need some faith in the raw food diet, believe me, it works wonders and puppies love it through natural instinct to eat raw food.
Raw IS the best to feed and will set your puppy up for a long life of solid immune system strength and much reduced veterinary fees.
That puppy food is waste & additives, forget the marketing hype. The gold standard is raw, go for it & you will see.
I have a new 3 month old male white german shepherd puppy and I’m currently feeding him Diamond Naturals Lamd and Rice Formula: Large Breed Puppy. Now that I have Snow, I really want to feed him the best, if I mix some raw meat with his puppy food, will that be good?
Well, as I did with my 8wk old staffy, start with pieces of lamb brisket (flap/neck) as the bones are rubbery, pieces of chicken (neck/quarter/wing etc). Get some raw green tripe, boxed frozen delivery over the net. Waste mince/butchers mince/dog mince either from local butcher or over the net.
Try some crushed/mashed/purieed veg as extra, ur pup will tell you which he prefers. Water filtered or mineral never tap.
Pups are too easy to start, they are naturals. Get started for a stunning Dobie.
What she did was to cook the bones first which hardened them which makes them tougher for the dogs stomach acids to breakdown so pieces pass along to the gut and the possibility of puncture or blockage comes into play. That’s what the vet was saying, just missed out the cooking part which was vital!
After consuming any type of raw bones a dogs stomach acids will turn them into liquid soup inside 4/5 hours and before leaving the stomach to the gut for amino acid extraction.
Raw bones are vital.
How would you introduce a 8 week old Dobie puppy to raw bones?
Hi Dan, I wanted to give another update: I have been feeding raw for 15 months now. My two (Boarder Colie and Min Pin)are doing much better on raw. At first the BC wanted to swallow the food whole before chewing it completely, she’s got it figured out now. What I found out is it takes me about 10 minutes to feed my two girls each day. This is about 9 minutes longer than most are willing to spend. It’s not the few extra dollars or any other excuses, its the 9 minutes. The best day ever for my dogs was finding your book.
