Found 1inch chicken toe with Quarter inch claw in Pedigree Dog food! Do I have a lawsuit?
- admin in category: dog natural food
Would I be able to sue Pedigree? If my dog was to even eat this it would’ve probably killed him. Who know what contamination is under the claw?

if you are for real, it’s not the contamination, it would be the bones and claw you’d have to worry about. The problem would be proving it was even in the dog food in the first place. Call pedigree.

yes you should sue Pedigree because if your dog had eaten that then they would have died and any health risk in dog food that could seriously harm or kill your dog gives you the right to file a lawsuit…

Nope. It says right on the bag “chicken by-products” that would be beaks and feet and other parts of the chicken that isn’t sold for human consumption. Just because it wasn’t ground up as well as usual doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it being in there.
You might want to look for a better grade dog food. Try Eagle Pack, Evo, Wellness, Nutro, etc.

The label on Pedigree lists one of the major ingredients as “chicken by products” which is basically anything off the slaughterhouse floor. Including chicken feet. Granted, they’re usually ground up but this one must have slipped through whole.
So basically, you got what you paid for. It’s not human grade food and they don’t advertise it as such. Dogs can eat chicken feet if given them. Now if your dog had eaten it and gotten sick due to bacteria or the like, then probably you could return the product to the store for a refund. I doubt you would have made it to court.
My advice? Switch to a holistic food like Wellness that uses human grade ingredients, and NO byproducts. Then this won’t happen again.

Probably not. Might not hurt to check into though. One time I bought a bag of Purina cat food that had bugs and webs in it. I called the company and they sent me coupons! Good luck!

Unbelievable.
In the UK chicken feet all get exported to China, where they are a delicacy. And you are asking if you can sue because of a chicken foot.
I don’t think so.

Like others have said, low quality dog food is made with low quality products. i doubt you have any issue on your hands. You can write them and let them know and will probably get an apology with a coupon for a discounted price on your next bag, but not much else can happen.
I could be wrong tho, see what they say.
Always insect your dogs food when it is opened and as you serve it. you can open a brand new bag and if it smells or looks “wrong” dont serve it and contact the company.
Regardless of food quality, most companies will compensate for the mistake and replace the product or offer coupons.
Try looking into a food that is by product free, among other ingredients. They may( will) be more expensive, but sometimes you get what you pat for. Human grade dog food is best if looking for a kibble.
Sorry to hear you had to find such an icky thing in your food!

well, pedigree is a pretty crappy brand of food to begin with.

One of the main ingredients in Pedigree is chicken by products. Chicken feet are chicken by products, although usually they’re all ground up with the other gross things that are by-products. All that contamination that you’re referring to is already in the dog food, you just don’t think about it. Maybe it’s time to switch to a higher quality food for your poor dog.

If the contents of the can reads chicken byproducts then you, like the chicken, don’t have a leg to stand on.
Come on; dogs eat whole chickens all the time. And my dog relishes a good feed of horse ploppings. They would laugh you out of court.
BTW – you are aware that they sterilize the product after it is canned; RIGHT?
