I cook a whole young chicken…. bones, skin, organs, and all. You can remove the skin if you want less fat
skin the chicken before feeding them
Slow cooked or raw bones that are soft are safe and filled with good nutrition!
Excellent. Many times I make a rotisserie chicken. Then I put the carcass in a pressure cooker for stock another time. Those bones come out fairly soft as bones go but I never thought I should give it to them. I’ll just finish another stock batch w/their stuff afterwards. There’s always something in the fridge that’s seen it’s prime.
Ah alright i’ll try that with the next batch
Slow cookers are different. You’ll have to try 14, 16,18 hours (low) until soft
I cooked it about 11 hours overnight on low and the bones were hard as rocks. I could not bend then or anything. What did I do wrong? I’m trying to dig through and pick them out now and I can only snap the tiny ones….
chicken, chicken liver, fish, eggs and some raw or cooked bones is balanced Sweet potatoes are also very nutritious. The “complete and balanced commercial diets” are often less balanced
Thanks so much. Yes she can tolerate cooked chicken, rice, maybe gr beans but I am worried about a balanced diet if that is all she will eat.
Can she eat cooked shredded chicken? Cooked rice with chicken? Eggs with rice? Tin of sardines? Green beans? You need to find the ingredients she tolerates and combine them. Dogs can be allergic to beef, chicken, wheat, corn, rice etc Test with small amounts Check dogdishdietcom for the complete description and ideas
As with anything, the less the better. 1/4 clove every 2-3 days for a medium dog is safe Giving high daily levels can affect the blood
Hi Dr Greg!
I’m contemplating on whether I should give my dog a tad of garlic every day since I have heard garlic is good for fleas and other things, but what concerns me is that I have also heard that the toxicity from garlic builds up in their body…. What is your opinion on this?
Great video. My 14 yr old dog has chronic stomach problems from years of rimadyl and now liver disease. Tried raw food but she didn’t like eating it and had loose stools. What do you suggest for gastric problems.?
