Pedigree dog food is a mid-range brand. It is not as high quality as Eukanuba, but higher quality than say, Ol’ Roy.
Some people (especially among the group of answerer’s here on yahoo will tell you it is a terrible terrible food. It is not a terrible food, it is simply not the best. If you are looking to feed your dog the very best you can look into some organic foods (Candie or Merrick) and discuss them with your vet.
The website is helpful http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ Though I am not sure it is completely unbiased.
Dogs need to eat meat and bones. Most butchers do bags of doggy chops and will cut them down to a smaller size if you have a small dog. Alternatively, chicken wings or drumsticks are perfect. If you can get rabbit or roo tail, it’s even better. Pedigree dog food, or indeed any canned or packaged dog food is like feeding your pet takeaway food. Fresh food and bones also negate the need for having teeth cleaned by the vet.
It is not the worst, while at the same time it is not the best. It contains all lot of byproducts, fillers, and other things that can’t be well digested by dogs. That is why it isn’t that great of a dog food. You can read more at this website. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showproduct.php?product=5&cat=all
pedigree isn’t great. and http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com has a lot of outdated/discontinued items on it, or items that were re-done by the manufacturer. Best thing to do is go to your local pet store to see what options you have. Look for something with less grains (dogs don’t eat grains in nature), a variety of fruits&veggies, meat like “chicken” or “lamb” as the first ingredient.
