pedigree dog food vs brekkies dog food
- admin in category: dog natural food
Hi!
For the last month i ‘m feeding my dog pedigree dry food(mixed with canned) and also cook for her rise,chicken-beef,carots…
I know that pedigree is a low quality dog food but she denys to eat the ”expensive” brands like eukanuba, hills, royal canin, techni cal,pro plan.
So,i choose to make a combination of dry and fresh food.
My question is :should i change pedigree to brekkies?is that better?
Sorry for my english.
Nick.
here,in Greece,is very dificult to find high quality dog foods like orijen, acana, innova… ![]()
My friend alias boxer,
i know that pedigree contains sugar and salt.
But how can u explain that many dogs are fed their entire life with pedigree and more low quality dog foods.
In Greece people feed whatever u can imagine(table food, bread, bones, dry food, canned food). Most of those dogs die very old.
Thats why i feed my dog a dry food she likes but i cook for her too.I try to keep the balance.

Do you know why dogs like Pedigree so much?
It contains sugar.
That’s like feeding your child candy for every meal. Sure, he likes it, but his teeth will be completely rotted within a few years.
Check the ingredients on Brekkies. I’ve never heard of it, so I can’t tell you if it’s good. That’s unfortunate that you can’t get something like innova. I would stick to the highest quality food you can possibly afford, though.

Yes, I understand that lots of pet owners feed very low quality food to their dogs their entire lives. However it seemed to me that you asked this question because your dog’s health is important to you, so that is how I advised. Because of Pedigree’s sugar content, it doesn’t really matter if you’re supplementing real food along with dry, because she’s still getting a good daily dose of sugar. If you can’t afford anything expensive, you need to at least switch her dry food to something that does not contain sugar. A friend of mine has fed Pedigree to his dog for her entire 10 years of life; her teeth began rotting when she was 6 years old, and her breath is rancid.
If you want to continue feeding a diet of dry food and real food, make one meal only dry food, and the next meal only real food (meat). It’s easier for them to digest this way. I’d skip the rice, it doesn’t add much nutrition, just a filler, which she’s already getting plenty of in her dry food. You can even skip the veggies if you like. Remember that the point of supplementing real food is to give her a quality source of protein — real meat. I actually use follow this routine with my dogs: dry in the morning, raw in the evening. (You can look up raw feeding if you’re interested in doing it that way.)
Bottom line, if you want the best for your dog, dump the Pedigree.
