Q&A: What is the importance of having proper calcium and phosphorus ration in dog food?
Question by Kibble is King of all Crap: What is the importance of having proper calcium and phosphorus ration in dog food?
While researching some dog food, including the RAW diet, I read that 1000mg Calcium should be added from any source per pound of meat to give it proper calcium to phosphorus ratio.
Does anyone know why?
Chloe, thanks for giving us all a warning. I agree. The Hills/Science Diet prescription stuff the Vet pushes is horrible! I wouldn’t feed that crap to a bug.

idk, and I know this does not answer your qz. but, if you are researching to find a food to give your dog, DO NOT GIVE THEM THE SCIENCE brand, it is the one that they usually have at the vets. I gave it to my oldest dog and it caused problems with his heart. The vet told me it was the best for them but, when they had to put him down because they could not do anything else, they said it was because of the food.
