The dog mating process

Dog mating can be embarrassing to some people but it is actually an impressive act. Dogs’ odd mating process is nature’s way of ensuring the survival of canines. Dog owners have various reasons for mating the dog. Some would breed the pet for financial reasons. A dog lover may want to have puppies produced by the well loved pet.
Some dog owners would want to “reproduce” the ideal temperament and the good looks of a dog. Whatever reasons these dog owners have for breeding the dog, one thing is common. Professional breeder or pet owner, both would want to produce a healthy litter.
The mating of dogs would be considered as an ordinary occurrence by dog experts. A dog being mated for the first time would show signs of distress thus a pet owner watching the breeding process for the first time may panic. The distressed whining of the pet will naturally alarm the owner. The dogs may appear as if trying to pull away from each other and an uninformed owner may try to separate the dogs. However, no matter how distressed the pets appear, a dog owner must never try to separate mating dogs. Male and female dogs are naturally stuck together while mating and any effort done to separate them will cause unnecessary injury.
Male dogs are always ready to mate but female dogs would only accept a male if she is in the estrus stage. Female dogs cannot be forced to mate because if they are ready, they will show flagging or the lifting of the tail to one side to invite a male dog. The bitch will allow the favored dog to mount her from behind in seconds the vulva will be penetrated. While still tied at the rear ends, one dog will swing the legs over the other so that the mating dogs will face an opposite direction.
Canine copulation is different from human copulation in that human male member has to be erect to gain penetration while this is not necessary for dogs. Dog’s male member has a small bone called baculum that aids penetration by keeping the male member erect. After penetration, the tie will take place. The male dog will be trapped inside the bitch when the tissues of the male member get swollen with blood. The two dogs will remain tied for about twenty minutes until the dog has ejaculated and the male member returns to its normal size. The mating tie ensures the impregnation of the bitch.
