The chewing habit of puppies can be managed as it would be an easy matter to confine a small dog and provide it with harmless chew toys. Generally, puppies outgrow the tendency to chew excessively.
A well behave dog that has unexpectedly developed an excessive chewing habit would naturally concern a pet owner. The dog’s unwanted behavior can be due to an underlying reason. Loneliness, inactivity and boredom can be the cause for the dog’s destructive chewing behavior. Finding out what makes your dog chew is only the beginning. A shoe with the master’s scent would be a poor substitute but it would do for a dog missing its master. Being energetic, dogs have to be provided with opportunities to let off steam. Confining the dog inside the home without toys or playmates would not be a good idea as the pet would find its own source of enjoyment.
