Nutro Max is higher quality. They tend to use better ingredients and not vary their formula based on what ingredients are cheaper on the commodities market.

neither are good there full of crap and fillers
blue buffalo ( sold at petsmart) is a 6 star dog food and costs the same a nurto
go to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com
nurto actaully has lawsuits from animal death due to mold and pedigree may as well feed the dog the whole bag. its just crap

Your best bet is to go to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com; there you will find that Pedigree doesn’t fare well. I am not sure about Nutro Max. But I have checked on Pedigree as it is what I USED to feed my dogs. Then, I lost one to IBD (with food allergies as a secondary issue), and became better informed about what I feed my pups.

I feed my Golden Ret. and Shorthair Pointer pedigree and it keeps weight on them without having to feed them alot. They have beautiful coats and nice breath.
Nutro Max is used alot by show breeders, but I didn’t have a good experience with it.

My chihuahua was on Pedigree Puppy until I got her at 5 1/2 months and her hair was thin and she had some spots that looked almost bald. I put her on a local quality brand that regrew her hair and helped her get more muscle. I think that Nutro used to be a good brand but was bought out by a company who uses crappy ingredients now. I always ask the employees of the pet store what they feed their dogs.

The best way to answer that question is not people’s unfounded opinions just because they use it on their dogs. Quality should be your answer. Educate yourself on what makes a high quality food. Meat should be the first ingredient on the list, not corn. Very little of corn is truly digestible for dogs and most of this filler is passed out in waste. Rice is a much better alternative in dog food.
Based on those parameters, Nutro is a far better selection for your pets health. Not to imply that I commend it as the world’s best food. I would steer clear of anything you can pick up at Walmart.

To just answer your question, Nutro Max is better then Pedigree. Pedigree is one of the worst.
All of the foods from Wal Mart and most well known dog foods have either fillers, by-products, or artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.
Fillers such as corn, wheat, and soy have no nutritional value to them. It is all junk.
By-products are the junk in meats. That aren’t nutritious plus dead, dying, and cancerous animals are allowed.
Artifiacial colors, flavors, and preservatives are cancer causing along with other health problems. Cancer is the number one killer of cats and dogs.
You don’t want any food that is from Wal Mart or the like. All of the foods there have one or all of these things.
All the capitol words are the really bad things, there are also other bad things but I didn’t point them all out.

Sorry but neither food is good. Both have been on the recall list.Nutro is being investigated again..both use cheap fillers & by products.
You need to steer clear of foods that contain corn, wheat, soy, by products, animal digest, animal fat, added sugars, dyes, chemical preservatives.
A better quality food will be healthier, more nutritious, you’ll use less and there will be less waste.

NutroMax is a good brand of dog food because they do not use any by-products or fillers in their foods. Their ingredients are natural, and help to improve the skin and coat of your pet, as well as their overall health because it includes essential vitamins and nutrients that your pet needs all in their food, instead of you having to purchase an additional supplement. The company has been around for over 80 years and I have used these products on my pets and have not had any issues with them this far, after 9 years. It is considered a premium pet food on the market and is reasonable in price considering you are getting higher quality ingredients.
bybers are the best breeders :) 21st May 2010 1:20 pm

Nutro Max Adult Lamb Meal and Rice
I certainly don’t consider this Premium food. The menadione is the worst. I certainly would never feed my dog anything containing menadione. If you don’t know what that is, google it.

I’ve had everything from a Australian terrier to German shepherd and all they got were brands found at “Walmart” (I’m Australian). MY parents fed there dog that dog sausage / salami and bread every night and he lived a long healthy life of 13 years. A friend and breeder of GSDs weens pups onto and recommends Purina to buyers.
The fact is the best thing you can buy for your dog is what you buy for yourself. Some people cant afford to spend 20 dollars on 1kg of dog biscuits. IF you “love” your dog and wanted to feed him the healthiest option you’d be cooking up an extra T-bone for him/her along with yours, extra rice and chicken etc etc.
Sure, the walmart brands aren’t perfect but if you honestly feel that way, then buying something more expensive with “real” ingredients doesn’t mean you love your pet more than the person who feeds theirs Chum. I mean I bet people will complain about dog food but let there children eat sugar coated breakfast cereals, fast food/take out, hell even some white bread is pretty yuk these days.
Love your dog. Buy the food you can afford. With the money you save not buying over priced dog food, put away for a regular vet visit. If they don’t like the food, try a different flavour, then a different brand. If you can see your pet isn’t healthy CHANGE.
When it comes down to it – A dog knows your love. It doesn’t come from any can or packet. It comes from YOU. My dog’s tail wags more when I walk in through the door, than when I bring it food. I mean do you solely love someone because of the food they bring you ?
