If your animal likes it and does well on it-nothing is wrong with it.
It’s what your animals health reports not what others think.
There is no one correct food as animals differ.
You can always add extra nutrients if this concerns you.

Many folks in rescue cannot always afford top of the line brands.I have never had one not thrive from donated food or whatever we could afford.

If there are any wild game butchers in your area-they will give fresh scraps and bones to you for free.

Nothing is wrong with it if you’re feeding it to a ruminant. If it didn’t have the specks of meat and meat flavoring that it does, no dog would eat it. Try putting a bowl of corn meal and wheat flour on the floor for your dog. The only thing missing would be the Pedigree label.

There are decent dry kibble brands out there but pedigree isn’t one of them. First of all dogs are carnivores and feeding them pelletized for that contains carb loaded grains and other garbage isn’t optimum nutrition in my opinion. Secondly companies like pedigree use meat and meat by product from rendering plants. They use 4D meat which is diseased, dying, dead or deformed. These 4D farm animals get thrown in a massive blender along with roadkill and up until recently euthinized domestcated pets. The meat and bone is heated to cook off the fat and then dried to a powder and then shipped to crappy pet food makers where it is mixed with grains and other garbage, turned into kibble and fed to the worlds domesticated pets. If your going to feed kibble make sure it comes from a quality grain free all meat producer!

Because they just had yet ANOTHER set of recalls last year (and that makes 3 years in a row)

This time it was Salmonella that was so bad that people just touching the food had to be hospitalized – but boy you sure had to look hard to find the recall info and they did not warn many vets even though it was a nationwide contamination that had been out there for months (and they first only recalled 100 bags) – until the FDA stepped in because people were getting sick.

My vet actually suggest feeding Purina dog chow ( puppy food for the first 8 months)
My vet is a friend and says that there really isn’t anything better in the high price foods
lets see I have had one cock-a-poo live to be 23 and several others that have lived to 18 and have 2 now htat are 12 and 14 all fed Purina puppy-Purina dog chow so I guess this food is so bad that they live a long, healthy,happy life. I wonder what is so wrong with Pedigree and Purina dgo chow????

People are gullible and stupid everywhere in the world. My suggestion is to follow the advice of your veterenarian to give your pets what they need. There are so many kinds of food for pets available that it is simply a personal choice. You can even buy a cookbook and make your own pet food! Pedigree is fine. This is a “recall” world and every other month our milk, beef, yogurt, ice cream, baby food and pet food is recalled because some one does something stupid somewhere. Feed your dogs whatever they like and if needed, give a supplement. I have six healthy, happy dogs and five healthy, happy cats. We use Purina products and a special one for one of the cats from “Chicken Soup for Cats” Good product and keeps him alive. By the way, to those that are rude and condemning, almost ALL commercial pet foods have some kind of filler in then, give it a rest!

We started out buying our puppy pedigree, we were very cheap as well! At night our puppy had the fowlest farts in the world, it was so bad that we had to keep him in the other room. His fecal was runny, he was always sick. We finally started to do research on different dog food, after reading about how bad pedigree was, we looked for other dog food. We found this one called Taste of the Wild, brought it home and gave it a try. I can not stress to you enough what a difference it made on him. He no longer farts, his poop is solid, his coat is very soft and it even made a difference in his shedding. We buy a 15lb bag for 26.00 now pedigree runs about 15.00. for a 15lb bag. Now here’s the catch, we only feed him now full grown 3 cups of food a day with the Taste of the Wild and wit pedigree we were feeding him 8 cups a day. so do the math. You actually save money buy buying the good stuff cause you have to feed him less. Also keep in mind that pedigree is like you eating fast food every day, it makes you have to go to the bath room and your stomach is upset all day. I would personally go with the good stuff. There are many kinds of foods out there just do the research.

I recently saw a video with someone with a hidden camera tht went into the warhouse where they make the pedigree dog food and they have big food grinders and they were actually putting dead dogs road kill and a bunch of other junk in those grinders tht is deffenitaly not good for ur dog! i do not reccomend pedigree or any cheap dog food for ur dog! u save money buying the expensive one anyway cause u give them less of it! What makes anyone assume vets know anything about nutrition? Just ask your vet what “chicken meal” is. Do your own research, and stick to comparing ingredients rather than marketing hype.
