Why do dogs love to sleep at the master’s feet?
- naturaldogfoodseo in category: Uncategorized
Dogs are not branded as human’s best friends for nothing. We know that these animals have not only provided man with companionship but also with affection and empathy. Dogs are the most loyal pets humans can have as these animals will forever be affectionate and protective of their masters. We make sure that the dog is provided with its basic needs and all the comforts imaginable. With the loyalty, companionship and protection a dog gives to its human family, an owner will never consider the time spent in caring for the pet to be useless.
Dogs have consistently proven their loyalty and affection to their human friends. Dogs would not mind any discomfort as long as they can be with their favorite people. Take for instance the dog’s tendency to sleep at the master’s feet. We know how dogs love to sleep. If given a chance, dogs will sleep the day away. People that love to sleep would invest on big, soft and comfortable beds. This is not so with dogs. Affection over comfort – your dog would prefer to sleep in your feet even if it means waking up every time you move.
The desire of the pet to be with you is expected as dogs are very affectionate animals. Because of the pet’s tendency to stick close to the master they are dubbed as Velcro pets. You have probably noticed your pet’s rather funny habit of leaning on your legs and of stealthily creeping to gain a place in your lap.
Sleeping at the master’s feet cannot be a very comfortable position. A dog though would be ready to have cricks in the neck as long as it can get close to the master. Dogs are protective and the habit is believed to be the dog’s way protecting the master. This habit can also mean that the dog recognizes the owner as the leader of the pack. Dogs need to have well defined hierarchy. Sleeping at the master’s feet means that the dog is being submissive.
Sleeping at the feet of the master will not do the dog or the master any harm. Dog owners would normally let the dog sleep at their feet but what if the dog is a giant breed – would you have the heart to disturb the sleeping pet?
