Are you talking Science Diet or Pedigree? They’re two different foods. Neither are very healthy for your dog, Pedigree being the lesser quality of the two.
I pay $41 for a 30lb bag of Natural Balance Ultra Premium dog food for my hounds because they are worth it.
Most dog foods offer coupons at their websites. Check out your brand, and maybe save a few $$$.
The name alone speaks for itself. They can charge you an arm and a leg for the stuff because you are suppossed rest assured that every morsel is worth it..with all the *science* that goes into making a dog food designed to do everything for your dog that it needs to stay healthy and live long ..blah and blah.
**If you really lile it for your dog..then heres a good suggestion that that will save you money. Join Pedigree fre membership program..they’ll send you coupons, trial products and other things for free. Also on their website they have instant coupon you can print.. http://www.mypedigree.ca/site/en/default.aspx
It is so expensive because it is a premium speciality dog food, I also have to buy it for my dog, lucky she is a small dog. I always look to see what stores have it on sale, and try to find coupons to use, which helps keep the cost down.
why are hondas more than chevy…you get what you pay for vivit this web sight for the top rated dog foods
You get what you pay for. Science Diet and some of the more expensive Pedigree foods are made of more meat and carbs than indigestible fillers. Digestible meat proteins (organs, tissue, etc) and usable carbs cost more than indigestible proteins (feathers, connective tissue, etc) and carbs. The higher quality the products in the food, the higher the price. Unfortunately my dog has allergies and is on a Eukanuba Veterinary formula that is $36 for a 15-lb bag… My dog eats 30 to 35 lbs of food a month. Thankfully I work for a vet, so my cost is significantly less, but just like fillet mignon costs more so does good dog food.
I’m sorry, but that’s cheap. Any dog food that is less than a buck a pound is cheap. I buy my dog a 26lb bag of food for $50. So stop complaining. The better the quality you buy, the less you feed them. It comes out to be about the same price in the long run, and your dog definately benefits from eating a better food. Less fillers and additives, so your dog stays healthier longer with less problems later in life.
Because….the higher priced dog foods (Science Diet..Iams) use a fixed formula. That means if the package say the protein source is chicken, then it is always chicken. No matter what the market price for chicken is. The others use whatever is cheap at the moment. With the higher priced foods, you know exactly what your pet is getting and can be guaranteed that their nutritional needs are being met. With others…you don’t know. Also, switching foods can make your pet ill. Vomiting…diahrrea…possibly due to allergies. Say you buy the cheap food…the dog does fine. It was made with chicken. You buy it again, the dog gets sick or has runny stool…it may have been made with lamb. Your dog is allergic to lamb…then you have a problem. This was just an example. I always buy Iams for my pets.
Which do you mean, Science Diet or Pedigree?
SD is expensive because they have to pay for all their advertising. I wish they would put some of their money into the actual food instead, it isn’t very good and I would never feed it to my dogs.
Pedigree is just plain crappy.
its probably realy good for your dog where i live its a little cheaper
They want you to think its better. Look at the package and see how they compare, most are no different.
science diet and pedigree are junk foods……………..
vets recommend science diet because they get a 40 percent profit on what they sell, they do not promote it because it is a healthy dog food, they promote it because of the profit…… Vets are pet doctors not nutritionists. The reason it is so expensive, they have to pay for all that advertisement they do to convince people that it is a good dog food when it is not. It is junk and so are the foods in the grocery store and walmart. you want a food with the first ingrediants are meat not junk.
Science Diet and Pedigree are garbage foods. You’re paying for their advertising, not the quality of their food. Same goes for all the big brands like Iams, Purina, and Eukanuba…pure junk food!! They’re nothing but corn and a bit of meat. Try buying more holistic kibble like Innova Evo, Canidae, Wellness, etc. They might seem expensive, but because they are such high quality food, your dogs needs much less of it. http://www.naturapet.com
more meat products in it
